The Difference Between Fuji and Noritsu Scanning

At Grain Riot, we use Noritsu and Fuji scanners. Both produce amazing results with subtle differences, depending on personal preference or the particular look your project demands.

Noritsu scans have a more muted look. The images feel more neutral with slight warm tones, with skin tones leaning more pink. Noritsu is the preferred option for processing black and white film, because there's more flexibility and greytone across the whole photo.

Fuji Frontier scans tend to be a bit cooler with the shadows. The render of skin tones lean warm and golden, with the overall colors a bit more saturated. Fuji black and white scans tend to have less detail in the shadows, with the grain often smoother.
